On February 12, a webinar titled ‘Processes of Organisation and Implementation of Teaching Quality Assurance in Higher Education in the UK: Experience of the University of Exeter‘ was held.
The event was organized through the collaboration of three partners: the University of Exeter (United Kingdom), which shared its practices in the field of education quality assurance, the Ukrainian Marketing Association, which initiated the event, and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, which provided its support for this important educational initiative.
The webinar addressed key aspects of external and internal mechanisms for ensuring the quality of higher education in the United Kingdom, drawing upon the University of Exeter’s exemplary quality assurance policies. The session was structured as a comparative reflection on teaching experiences within the higher education systems of Ukraine and the United Kingdom, with a particular focus on sustainable quality assurance practices. The discussion specifically highlighted strategies employed in Marketing degree programmes, which contribute to the competitiveness of universities and their positioning in global rankings.
During the two-hour session, participants gained valuable insights into the processes underpinning educational quality assurance through practical examples related to the teaching of marketing disciplines. The session explored key aspects such as assessment methodologies, including calibration and moderation, as well as the role of data analysis in ensuring academic standards. Additionally, significant attention was devoted to recent innovations aimed at strengthening the practical components of higher education. Given the dynamic nature of marketing disciplines, which are continuously reshaped by technological advancements, evolving market conditions, emerging global research, and new theoretical frameworks, discussions also emphasised the importance of flexible curricular adaptation without compromising academic integrity.
The webinar was made possible through the efforts of Dr Natalia Pysarenko and Dr Olha Matviiets, who have been teaching at the University of Exeter for over two years. Both scholars possess extensive teaching experience in Ukraine. Dr Pysarenko previously taught for over twenty years at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” and at the business school International Institute of Business, where she contributed to Executive MBA programmes, consultancy activities, and professional training for Ukrainian businesses. Dr Matviiets has more than ten year of teaching experience at Khmelnytsky National University.
The University of Exeter holds a distinguished reputation in higher education, ranking 4th in the UK for marketing education and 13th overall among more than 150 universities in Britain. It also ranks 169th globally and is a member of the prestigious Russell Group, which comprises 24 leading UK universities renowned for research excellence and world-class publications. The University of Exeter Business School, where Dr Pysarenko and Dr Matviiets teach, holds the distinguished Triple Crown accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS, and AMBA), an accolade held by only a select number of business schools worldwide.
This webinar served as an invaluable platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration between UK and Ukrainian academics, fostering discussions on best practices in teaching quality assurance that will contribute to the enhancement of higher education in both countries.
